How to Avoid Paying for Expensive Airport Parking

Traveling by air is fast and fun, but trying to park at or near the airport can become very expensive very quickly, especially since most airport parking goes by either a daily or weekly rate. Depending on the length of your trip, you may come home to pay more for parking than you paid for souvenirs or food! There are definitely alternatives to paying for parking at the airport, some of which are better than others.

Family or Friends Close family and friends will always help out when they can and it's nice to have a pleasant ride to the airport. However, problems can arise when your family is going with you or your friends are busy with their own lives, or if your flight is at a very inconvenient time. Furthermore, unless someone has a large vehicle, getting your family and bags to the airport can be a crowded experience. You also run the risk of being forgotten or having to wait for your ride, which can cause major stress.

Taxi Service Hiring a taxi is an option. They are guaranteed to pick you up and take you where you need to go, but you should know in advance the cheapest and easiest route to your destination, since mileage is part of the price. Taxis are a standard size sedan car which provides limited space for both passengers and luggage, especially since the entire front seat is off limits. Because taxi's are frequently used and seldom cleaned, they have a tendency to contain unusual odors.

Public Transit Whether it's a bus, a trolley, or a subway type system, most large cities have some form of public transportation. They only make scheduled designated stops, so add time for every stop along the way. Public transit can be quite crowded and sometimes limited on entrance and exit time, so keeping up with your family and your luggage can prove to be a hassle. Becoming separated from a loved one for a short time or your bags for the entire trip can ruin any vacation.

Shuttle Service In smaller towns, public transit may not be an option. Many times the airport is outside the specified route or in another town all together. In these cases, a shuttle service that makes frequent trips to and from the airport is an option. However, it is still limited with storage space for your luggage and you are often cramped in a van with a dozen other people.

Limousine or Chauffeured Car Everyone has dreamed of arriving in style. Hiring a limousine service to take you to and from the airport offers the best of everything. Multiple limo size options allow you to choose how much space you and your family require. With your personal chauffer on your time schedule, your clean ride to and from the airport can be a relaxing experience just for you and your loved ones.
